This is a by a guy called Nick Keppol (http://www.nkeppol.com/) who was recommended to me by Lauren while interviwing her for the Type and Grid project. His work has a very simple visual style, but they each work well. Check out the Lemonade typeface, it feels like lemonade.

I like the vertical/horizontal lines as well, which i did a bit of in my what is a line project.
And this is a style i'm very interested in at the moment, the type feeding horizontal and vertical from each other. I've seen it on the FPS Call Of Duty:World At War also, in between levels. Once i can get a hold of screen shots ill stick it on.
With this Keppol image the text thickness also gives impact to particular numbers and words in the image which work very effectively.
